There are many brands of running sneakers that you can choose from. Some of the most popular brands can be worn for years with regular use without wearing out and other brands seem to run out before you are finished running! Through the many styles of brands that are available and the price ranges, how do you know which brand is going to fare best while you are running? Here are some tips that you can use while choosing running shoes to ensure that you are able to choose the best brand.
First, price is a consideration and you get what you pay for. Most often when it comes to higher quality running shoes, you get what you pay for. This means that when you pay a low price for a pair of shoes, you are most often going to get shoes that are going to last for less than one season and shoes that are not going to provide you with an adequate level of comfort and support that is needed.
When it comes to running shoes, go with what shoes feel right. When it comes to the shoes that are worn, going with what shoes feel right is going to be the most effective way to ensure that you are making the right choice. Shoes should not only be tried on in the store, but you should try running or walking in the shoes, taking part in the activity that the shoes are going to be used for. This is the only way that you are going to be able to determine if you have found the right fit that is associated with the shoes.

Just in case your interested the WSJ had a great article on Feb. 25th 2010 on ‘Ways of Helping You Buy Running Shoes’ and we wanted to share their thoughts below:
They mentioned how some stores now offer their customers ‘High-tech evaluations using treadmills, cameras and other methods’ that help their customers find the correct shoes.
These evaluations will help you determine if your feet:
• Roll inward
• Roll outward
• Maintain a Neutral footfall
Once you know this information it will help you determine what running shoe would be the best for you.
They actually went to four stores including Fleet Feet Sports, New York Running Co., Road Runner Sports and Seattle Running Co and found that most of the High-tech Evaluations are more of a ‘teaching tool’ for their customers although the tests seemed to offer information that the buyer might have not known. Although the stores also mentioned that they can offer the same advice by just looking at a customers’ older shoes along with watching them run/walk.
Hopefully this will help make your trip to the running store a little less stressful (also we can now have a little fun at the store finding out this information)!
